Biographical Sketch:
Son of Russell and Vera (Harneck) DeGrow. Served 2 years in the US Navy, World War II as quartermaster, third class aboard an LST in the Pacific. At war's end, he and his crew were deployed to assist President Chiank Kai-Shek's forces on the Yangtze River during the Chinese Civil War. DeGrow owned and operated the Ben Franklin Store in Pigeon from 1951 to 1980. Served on the Tri-County Community College Board before being elected to the state senate. After leaving office in 1982, he joined 2 of his former colleagues, Senator Huffman and Senator Kammer, in a Lansing lobbying firm. After 7 years as a lobbyist, he retired in 1989.
