Biographical Sketch:
Eldest daughter of H. William & Stella (Stover) Hanna. She taught in a one-room school house near White Rock and later moved to Dearborn to be a secretary before marrying. Elected to the Dearborn City Council on first venture into politics and served 1950-53; served as president of the McDonald School Mothers Club; Aviation Property Owners Association; director and one of the founders of the Dearborn Federation of Civic Associations; secretary and chairman of the Lydia Womons Group of Littlefield Boulevard United Presbyterian Church; active in the United Foundation; Dearborn Navy Mothers Club; Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, post 1494; Women of the Moose; Dearborn Y.M.C.A.; League of Women Voters; Dynamic 16th Congressional District; Dearborn Democratic Club; Womens Benefit Association; Womens Political Research League; National Order of Women Legislators; Dearborn Citizens Traffic Safety Council; Dearborn Historical Society; Dearborn Business and Professional Women's Club.
She sponsored the first Homestead Property Tax exemption bill and was an early advocate of motor/voter registration law. She died in Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn as the result of complications from a stroke.
