Biographical Sketch:
Son of Amasa and Jane (Tinkler) Fitch. Located to farm in Sparta, 1848. Enlisted in Company C, First Berdan's Sharpshooters Regiment, 8/21/1861. Lost left arm in second battle of Bull Run, 8/1862. Served as Alpine Township treasurer for six years. Served as Alpine Township supervisor for 6 years. President of Ottawa and West Kent Agricultural Society. Member of Michigan state house of representatives from Kent County 3rd District, 1891-94.
