Son of Arnold and Almirs (Crozier) Harwood. Located in Macomb County, 1844. Enlisted in Co. A, 22nd Michigan Volunteers, 8/14/1862. Transferred to U.S. Veteran Reserve Corps, 43rd Co., 2nd Infantry Co., 11/1/1863. Located to farm in Lapeer County, 1868. Served as Goodland Township clerk, 1879-83 and township treasurer for 4 years. Served as postmaster.

Notable Facts:
1891 Manual says he had been a resident of Michigan for 40 years, suggesting that he came to Michigan around 1851 not 1844. Death certificate gives mothr's nameas Almira, Find-a-Grave says Elvira.
