Son of Arthur G. and Harrietta (Monroe) White. Enlisted in Co. D, 1st Nebraska Infantry, 4/1861 but was rejected by the mustering officer due to his age and size. Located in Grand Rapids, 1865.

Authored "Grand Rapids on parade: being a series of outstanding events and happenings that have helped make a city big and friendly" ([Grand Rapids, Mich.] : Herpolsheimer Co., 1926). Compiled and published "Reminiscences of editors and reporters" (Grand Rapids, Mich. : A.S. White, 1921).
