Biographical Sketch:
Son of Ezra and Sarah Mugford. Located in Chicago, IL in 1852 to work for Cragan & Company, meat packers. Located in White Lake, at that time in Oceana County, in 1854 to work for Noah Ferry & Company. Employed by L.G. Mason as he built sawmill at Muskegon in 1856. Mover to Pentwater in 1857; in 1858 he sought a piece of land in Hart Township. Served as highway commissioner for 8 terms, supervisor for 16 terms and was village assessor. Appointed postmaster of the village of Hart in 1887. Member and president of the Oceana County Agricultural Society; the Masons and Odd Fellows.
