Son of Nicholas and Anna (Roes?) Herrig. Emigrated to Saginaw, 1849. Began work at lumber mill, 1864. General manager of Green, Ring and Company of Saginaw, starting 1885. President, Saginaw Building & Loan Association. Board member, Saginaw Ice & Coal Company; Hemmeter Cigar Company and Saginaw City Milling Company. Member, Michigan house of representatives from Saginaw County 1st District, 1895-1900. Candidate for Michigan Senate 22nd District, 1910.
