Son of John Wagner. Emigrated to US, 10/1853. Located in Marquette, 6/1854. Served as justice of the peace, 1860-66; township treasurer, 1867-68; alderman, 1872-74 and 4th ward supervisor of Marquette, 1888-90; land agent. Served as deputy US Marshal, 1881-? Reporter of mortgages for Marquette County during the census of 1890.

Notable Facts:
Constructed upper peninsula's first railroad, 1855. Introduced "Relinquishment Resolution" which passed House, 6/14/1889. Introduced "Unit School" bill, 1891. Co-originated "Direct Taxation Law," 1891. Chairman of Republican nominating caucus, 1893.
