Biographical Sketch:
Son of James W. and Phoebe (Turner) Helme. He was night editor for the Daily Press at 18. Served as city attorney of Adrian, Served as city attorney of Adrian; assistant prosecuting attorney of Lenawee County; circuit court commissioner in Lenawee County. Deputy Dairy and Food Commission for 6 years. He founded the Michigan Parton and edited and published it from 1905-1922. Member of the Michigan Jersey Cattle Club, the Michigan State Dairyman's Association, Adrian Grange and other agricultural societies.
Notable Facts:
Was a senator in the Lenawee-Monroe district from 1899-1902.
Died of heart disease while in office.
