Former trustee for Plainfield Twp during the 1950s; served on the Kent County Board of Commissioners for 4 years; president of the Michigan Purebred Dairy Cattle Assoc. and Comstock Rotary Club; member of the Michigan Farm Bureau; director, West Michigan Telecasters, Inc; Grace Episcopal Church, Grand Rapids.

Notable Facts:
Brother of state Rep. Richard Buth Served in the legislature 24 years. Sponsored the bill that created Grand Valley State University which opened in 1964.
