Biographical Sketch:
Son of Robert and Bridget (Joy) Baird. Located in Zilwaukee, 1874. Worked for Saginaw Lumber & Salt Company, 1883-95. Served as justice of the peace, township supervisor, member of county committee and state game warden, 1917-21. First director of conservation, 1921-c1927 Delegate of 22nd District to Michigan Constitutional Convention, 1907-08. Alternate delegate to Republican National Convention from Michigan, 1912. Member, Michigan Republican Central Committee, 1915-17. Served on Saginaw County War Board, 1917-18; On the board of supervisors for five years. First Director, Department of Conservation, 1921. Member, Elks, Order of Foresters.
