Biographical Sketch:
After WWII, went into business designing & installing refreshment stands in theaters, and arenas. Served 26 years in public office, first as a councilman (1958-64) & mayor (1964-70)of Oak Park. Attend the signing of the peace treaty between Egyptian Pres. Anwar Sadat & Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin at the White House, 1979. Served as director of the Michigan Office of Job Training under Gov. James Blanchard and on the Cabinet Council on Jobs & Economic Development. HR 7, 2005 House Journal, p. 32,reported that he had died. No date or place of death.

Notable Facts:
Died of heart failure Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI at 88. Services held at Ira Kaufman Chapel, Southfield. Served as House majority floor leader from 1975 through 1984 and fashioned an agreement that located I-696 north of 10 Mile, allowing the freeway to be completed without displacing synagogues in Oak Park. Chair of the House Policy Committee that handled such issues as lobby regulation & campaign finance reform; a major architect of Michigan's Consumer Protection Act and fought for generic drug laws.. A founding member of the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments. James Blanchard was his protege.
