Son of Oris B. and Wealthy Ann (Shaw) Wagar. Located in Kent County as a bookkeeper. He was a clerk in a store in Cedar Springs in 1873. He moved to Edmore in 1878 and engaged in a general hardware business which he sold in 1887. At that point he entered the lumber business. He held various local offices.
