Member, Masons; Shriners; Knights of Pythias; Elks. Commonly known as the "watchdog" of the Michigan Treasury.

Notable Facts:
Served in both chambers. Injured in a fall at the entrance to his home, about 1905, and paralyzed; used a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
