Son of Alphonse I. DeMars & Annabel J. Erickson. Taught in Lincoln Park, MI, 1956-82. Editor of the Michigan Teacher, 1959-61. Member city council Lincoln Park, MI, 1965-67, mayor, 1967-71, city treasurer 197-82. Named veteran of year 1985, Lincoln Park. Michigan Emergency Vols. State Defense Force. With U.S. Submarine Service. Kiwanis, Jaycees, VFW, Amvets, Am. Legion, Eagles, Odd Fellows, Moose, Optimists, Shriners, Masons, Scottish Rite, Michigan Federation Teachers (vice president 1957-61).
