He was community development director of the Kent Community Action Program. Named Conservation Legislator of the Yr, Michigan United Conservation Clubs, 1979, Outstaanding Service award Grand Rapids Junior College, 1980, Outstanding Service award Association Ind. Colleges and Univs., 1984, Outstanding Legislator of the Year American Association of University Professors, 1982. Member National Association Civilian Conservation Corps. After leaving the legislature, he became the executive director of the Michigan Community Action Agency Association.
