Award for dedication to Education, 1993; Legilator of the Year, Michigan Council for Maternal and Child Health, 1994 and 98; Legislator of the Year, Michigan Alliance for Gifted Education, 1994; Legislative Achievement Award, Michigan Association of School Psychologists; Legislator of the Year, Police Officers Association of Michigan, 1999; Voted one of the Ten Best Legislators in two consecurive surveys, The Detroit News; Member National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Association Retarded Citizens, Michigan Bar Association, St. Clair County Bar Association, Phi Beta Kappa. First Republican to receive the Fellow Award form the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Districts for support of education, 1995.
