Biographical Sketch:
Son of Earl Franklin and Ruth Genevieve (Efting Fekken) Arthurhultz. Earl was a factory worker. His ancestors came to America in the 1750s and settled in Pennsylvania before moving west. Phillip began his career as Administrative Assistant to Senator Gary Byker of Hudsonville. Later worked for Congressman Vander Jagt. Phillip was involved in a controversy re: storing personal cars in state parking structures in spaces assigned to his staffers in 1989. He served on the Liquor Control Commission from 1995-April 1998. He resigned from that position following an investigation into questionable spending practices.

Notable Facts:
Senate Majority Leader. In April of 2011, arraigned for conspiracy to entice minors for 'immoral purposes' and intimidating witnesses.
