Biographical Sketch:
While representing East Detroit in the State Senate, the town renamed itself Eastpointe. He was a candidate in Republican primary for US Representative from Michigan 10th District in 1996. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, the N.R.A. and the Lions Club. Died after suffering a heart attack at the Somerset Mall in Troy.
Notable Facts:
Scuffled with another Senator on the Senate floor in 1991. Initially a conservative Democrat, he switched from the Democratic party to the Republican party after the 1992 election.
Served in both chambers.
SR 6, 1997 Senate Journal, p. 46 indicated that he died. No date or place of death.
